Huawei to Commericalize LTE Base Stations in Japan in Fall 2008

Chinese telecommunications equipment supplier Huawei is preparing for the debut of its base transceiver stations based on the next-generation telecommunications standard LTE (Long Term Evolution) in the Japanese market, Nikkei Weekly reported on August 25.

Huawei has teamed up with major Western telecom operators on joint trials for its LTE base stations, which are slated for commercialization in 2009. Huawei's Japan subsidiary is expected to start selling the LTE base stations to Japanese telecom operators in fall 2008, according to the same report. NTT DoCoMo and other Japanese telecom operators expect to deliver LTE services under the name of Super 3G in 2010.
